afternoon adventures

This afternoon once I was finished filling out the paperwork for my new job, I found myself at the bus shelter waiting for, you guessed it, a bus into town. These are the things/angles I enjoyed.

PUR PUR // Illawarra

At the moment I'm up at my parents house. It's nice to not be living in the city at the moment. Everything's slower.

STILLS. From my film.

Bacteria, But Not Really

A project I worked on last semester for printmaking - this is only part of the work, with the other part comprising of two artist books. I used a block printing technique and layered many ghost prints over it to create something that looked like bacteria.

GET LOST, FIND SOMETHING - By Darren Henderson

Last Thursday night a friend and I attended the opening night of Darren Henderson's debut solo exhibition at Gorker Gallery, Fitzroy.

Having gathered inspiration from the mythology surrounding owls and human culture, Henderson has depicted owls, as have others throughout human history, as symbols of knowledge, wisdom, fertility, as well as death, famine and destruction.

It took us a while, but we came to realise the hundreds of little paintings (270 in total) were setup to look like a map of the world - and upon further viewing, the paintings actually represented, subtly of course, the different climate areas of the world.

Anyway, if you're in Melbourne, get your arse down and have a look for yourself! It runs until the 16th of May, 2010.

Until next time, bye!

What have I been up to?

It's been some time since I've been able to devote time to my blogging. I have actually missed this side of my life!

Anyway, at the start of this year I started studying again (Dip. of Visual Arts) at Swinburne in Melbourne, and as with any visual art course it's intensive and you always need to take work home with you. Not that it's been a bad thing! I means I'm always doing art now, which is great. I'm excited to be learning new techniques and soon I'll be putting it into personal practice with my own art.

So, now that I'm settled into a routine I will be posting blogs and doing reviews (especially since I now go to a tonne of local exhibitions) at least weekly.

Other than my course, I applied for CURVY 7 this year and have yet to hear back from them...hmmm, I want to know!

So until next time, bye!
